Acrylic is my main medium but I like to mix materials and techniques and I love to try new things.

I am incredibly inspired by the patterns and structures of objects around me. The rough bark of a tree, the ingenious weave of a fabric or the geometric lines of a building can make my brain tingle and my fingers itch with creative desire. As wonderful as it is, when a kaleidoscope of patterns and colours appears on the retina just before bedtime, it can have a negative impact on the night's sleep.

If I come across something particularly interesting, I take a photo of it to be able to reproduce it in my collage papers. Often these in turn become parts of collages. The papers can be torn or cut and put back together several times before they take their final form and become like a mosaic of considerations. I attach most collages to wooden panels and finish with resin, which is a glass/plastic-like two-component epoxy.

I also paint with acrylic on canvas and here I am drawn to strong colours and structure. Initially, the brushstrokes are intuitive and random and here I experience freedom and presence of mind. Then almost always comes the phase when I become self-conscious and a little critical (called the ugly phase by many artists). I work on not putting too much value on my work at this stage - with trust in the process and a little persistence, the clouds usually disperse and it's a fantastic feeling when abstract backgrounds come to life.

My motifs are both abstract and figurative and especially birds, stones and insects recur in my works. Stones convey a feeling of 'here and now' thanks to their weight and at the same time a tension between movement and stillness, while birds appeal to me as symbols of freedom, daring to let go and observation. I think that it is my own quest for grounding, acceptance both of myself, others and all of life's labyrinths and patchwork that makes me drawn to them. My beloved little insects with their colourful palettes are nothing more than lovely eye candy and everyday brightening.

I hope that my art will inspire reflection, create emotions that touch and awaken the imagination.
